My distractions were mere avoidance techniques. These days I'm not part of a formal critique group, would love to be in one, and am on the lookout. Allowing myself to be "distracted" was a good lesson in my development as a writer. Very interesting post, Stephen. I also try to limit how much I write. I write in bits and pieces and then pull them together. Therefore, my production is less though the quality is high. At the moment, I am missing my muse.
